Weight gain
What Is Happening?
As we age, we lose muscle mass. Muscle mass is what burns calories! Decreased estrogen can cause the body to store more fat in the abdomen, leading to higher levels of body fat and a heavier appearance.
Weight gain is multifactorial in this time of our lives.
Menopausal weight gain causes include aging, lifestyle factors, genetics, and health conditions such as depression, diabetes, and hypertension. Additionally, certain medications like antidepressants, antipsychotics, and steroids can also contribute to weight gain. There is no one cause for most women.
